Description:

MECCA is continuing to go onwards and upwards by opening new stores, evolving, and expanding our services and continuing to offer the best curation of local and global beauty brands, as we embark on our mission to become the world’s most loved beauty destination.
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and exceptional Human Resources Business Partner (People Partner) to join our dynamic and incredibly talented HR (People & Education) team. This role is perfectly suited for a self-starter with the determination and tenacity to excel in a high-volume, complex environment, where you’ll be partnering with retail leaders to shape and drive people strategies that fuel our business’s success.
You will act as a custodian of the MECCA culture, role modelling and passionately coaching our Retail Leaders on MECCA values and core competencies. You’ll also play a crucial role in strategising and driving legislative requirements and People Operations across our NSW and ACT retail network.
The Role You Could Play
The People Partner will serve as a strategic business partner to our NSW and ACT regional managers, and by extension, store-based retail leadership teams, leading the delivery of business-focused and operational HR advice. This role requires a deep understanding of the retail landscape at MECCA, enabling you to assess, anticipate, recommend and drive forward-thinking people strategies and solutions that align with our business objectives.
This is a remote position based in NSW, ideally in Sydney, close to the majority of our MECCA stores, as regular visits to our store teams will be essential.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the P&E Manager (PEM) to develop, lead, and drive the People and Education plan, ensuring alignment with business priorities and strategic focus.
  • Identifying risks and coaching leaders to reach commercially sound, people-first solutions in managing complex people matters.
  • Supporting the timely execution of annual P&E activities, including Performance Reviews (Development, Talent & Succession Planning), Remuneration Review, Rate & Legislation Updates, and Casual Management.
  • Providing expert advice, consultation, and coaching on employment law, relevant legislation, contract interpretation, and the application of MECCA policies.
  • Reviewing pulse (engagement) metrics and work with leaders to establish, monitor, and implement action plans to address gaps and inefficiencies.
  • Partnering with leaders to strategise and advise on talent management and training needs, ensuring that high-potential team members are identified, developed, and engaged, with robust succession plans in place for critical roles.
  • Collaborating with the WH&S team to maintain a safe and injury-free workforce across all sites, in line with MECCA policies.

This role involves occasional travel to regional parts of NSW and ACT, as well as multiple trips to Melbourne each year for our prestigious leadership conferences and strategy days.
What You Will Bring
We seek a highly organised and experienced HR Business Partner with a proven track record in managing complex people matters autonomously and collaboratively within a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. Your ability to think strategically and apply a people-first approach to everything you do will be crucial to your success in this role.
You will be known for your exceptional and flexible communication and stakeholder management skills, as well as your passion for partnering with leaders to drive optimum outcomes for our people that align with MECCA values and our overarching business objectives.

Additionally, you will demonstrate:

  • Strategic thinking capability, enabling you to contribute to planning and seamlessly execute those plans.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships, negotiate, influence, and provide feedback in a collaborative and consultative manner.
  • Confidence in decision-making, even in the face of ambiguity.
  • Strong self-management skills, with the ability to set personal development goals and manage your workload effectively.
  • A robust understanding of targets/KPIs, coupled with the ability to analyse data to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word.
  • Commercial acumen, with the ability to translate business needs into effective people strategies.

Your Life At MECCA
Whilst we are singularly focused on our #CustomerFirst mantra, we know that wouldn’t be possible without an incredible team that is guided by our MECCA values and motivated each and every day to be solutions focused, innovative, collaborative and adaptable, and have a bit of fun along the way!

Some of our other team member benefits include:

  • Professional development programs and first-class digitised learning offering
  • Health and well-being initiatives
  • Reward and recognition programs
  • Access to bonus and incentive programs
  • Access to quarterly product allowance
  • Up to 40% discount

Benefits are subject to company policy, as updated from time to time.
There are also many other ways you’ll feel part of the MECCA story, as we love to celebrate, surprise, and delight our team along the way.

Responsibilities:
