About the role
The People Adviser is a true HR generalist, providing advice and support across the full employee lifecycle. They will work collaboratively with People Business Partners and relevant specialists to ensure a seamless experience for leaders and employees.

In this role you will:

  • Provide clear, accurate and timely interpretation and advice on HR policies, processes, employment contracts and agreements, Modern Awards, legislation and employee entitlements and benefits
  • Provide advice and support to leaders on matters of absenteeism, behaviours, performance, and non-work-related health and personal circumstances, whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality
  • Provide coaching to leaders supporting them to effectively lead and optimise engagement within their teams in a manner that is consistent with legislation, policies, procedures and Tennis Australia’s values
  • Support the timely and effective resolution of standard employee relations matters and corresponding document management, and escalate to a Senior Adviser or Business Partner as appropriate
  • Lead the support to Business Partners with organisational restructure activity, including checking position descriptions, coordinating job evaluations and all associated change management activity including updating Workday and other HRIS
  • Support and contribute to the ongoing development of HR knowledge portals; user guides; user education and ongoing process improvement

About you

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Strong experience as a People Adviser or similar role, ideally within an industrially complex environment
  • Proven experience advising employees at all levels with HR matters, such as policy and enterprise interpretation, employment legislation, employee complaints/grievances, harassment/bullying, and non-work-related health issues
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and Modern Awards
  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication and written skills, with an ability to show empathy and care when dealing with stakeholders
  • Strong time management and organisational skills, and therein an ability to exercise strong judgement to prioritise and effectively manage a high volume of time-sensitive matters, and/or escalate as appropriate
  • Proactive problem solving capabilities and a high attention to detail
  • You must hold (or be willing to obtain) a current Police Check and Working with Children Check
