Description:

JOB OVERVIEW

We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated individual to provide administrational support to the Perinatal Mental Health Service. Essential skills required for the post include – the ability to prioritise tasks; effective time management skills; excellent IT and administrational skills; good communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
The post holder should also demonstrate a caring and sensitive approach to their work and be able to clearly communicate with colleagues, the general public and representatives from other hospitals and organisations.
You will be working as an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team ensuring that there is appropriate communication with other professionals involved in the care of the child and mother.

Responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB

  • To provide administrative support to the Perinatal Community Team, Perinatal Loss and Trauma Team, whilst maintaining strict confidentiality at all time.
  • To be able to work on own initiative, to prioritise work as necessary, to liaise with service users, including the making and cancelling of appointments/clinics, signposting where applicable to members of the team or outside agencies. To provide support at team meetings and to attend weekly referral meetings.
  • To be confident at gathering data, using pie charts, graphs and collating information in an accurate manner for presentation purposes. Involved in service evaluation, sending out questionnaires and auditing responses.
  • Demonstrate empathic, reassuring and persuasive skills when dealing with vulnerable, distressed and suicidal patients and signpost to appropriate team member.
  • Arrange meetings, ward rounds, clinics, etc., co-ordinate and produce correspondence e.g., discharge letters, within Trust key target times, and dealing with relevant case notes.
  • Plan, organise and prioritise own workload which can be pressured and require a high level of concentration.
  • To Provide cover/cross cover (e.g. taking telephone messages for colleagues at other bases) in the absence of other secretarial colleagues as require to maintain a service to patients.
