Description:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Peer Support Worker to join our wider team. The role of the Peer Support Worker (PSW) has been developed for the Perinatal Mental Health Service specifically for people who have lived experience of having received secondary care mental health services.
The Peer Support Workers will be involved in the ongoing development of peer roles in the Trust, and play an active role with training in the development and co-facilitation of courses in the Recovery and Wellbeing College, which will also provide the oversight for training, development and peer supervision of all those who are employed in PSW roles. Through sharing knowledge and learning from their own experiences, Peer Support Workers will inspire hope and belief in others that recovery is possible.
If you have the belief that you can make a real difference to others in their recovery journey, and have the knowledge, communication skills and personal qualities to do this role, then please do apply.
The role will provide formalised peer support and practical assistance to service users, in order for them to regain control over their lives, and their own recovery process.
Peer Support Workers will form trusting relationships with service users that promote mutual respect and the sharing of information, which helps to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of personal valued roles and connection to location communities.
To be clear therefore, Perinatal Peer Support Workers are employed for the reason that having used Perinatal mental health services, they are able to draw upon these experiences in a positive and enlightening way to help and support others who are commencing their own journey of recovery. Peer Support Workers should inspire in others the hope and belief that recovery is possible.
