Job Purpose: The Library Assistant is responsible for assisting in all aspects of the day-to-day operations of the school library in order to create a positive, welcoming and relevant centre of learning for all members of the school community.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High degree of proficiency in database software and Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook •
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to change.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrates courtesy and professionalism.
  • Ability to manage confidential material and maintain staff and student privacy.
  • Familiarity with library software is an asset

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one (1) year post-secondary education in a field such as business administration or office administration or an approved Library Clerk certificate.
  • A working knowledge of computers and Microsoft applications of Excel, Outlook and Word.
  • Experience in a library setting would be an asset.

Working Conditions:

  • As per CUPE Agreement
  • Monday to Friday, 6 hours and 10 minutes per week, exact scheduling to be determined, 10 months per year
  • Commencing as soon as possible
  • Salary Range: $22.02- $25.75 per hour
  • Some manual labour including regular physical exertion and handling of objects up to 30 pounds (14 kg) on a repeated basis through the day and pushing weight bearing carts
