Description:

PA TO SECRETARY OF STATE APPOINTED, BEST VALUE COMMISSIONERS

In October 2023, the Secretary of State for the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government appointed 8 Commissioners to oversee the improvement and recovery of Birmingham City Council. The Commissioners, supported by 2 Chiefs of Staff require comprehensive and robust business support.
The Commissioners Support Team has been running for a year and is now well-established with its processes. We are seeking a highly professional, organised and experienced PA to join the team and continue this journey with the Commissioners and Chief of Staff.
The role will require a high level of professionalism, confidentiality and integrity. You will be the link between the Commissioners, Chiefs of Staff, Political Leadership and Executive Leadership of the Council. To keep the “show on the road”, applicants will need to be highly organised, have a great work ethic, be able to build quick effective relationships, and be reactive but also proactive. We will be working closely as part of a small team where flexibility is key.
There is also a requirement to work in the Council House for 2-3 days a week when the Commissioners are onsite so you will get to meet and interact with them and other senior leaders across the political and executive leadership of the council.
You must upload a Supporting Statement via the attachments part of your application. This is required for shortlisting; you need to describe how your experience and skills fit the essential criteria for the role as specified in the Person Specification. If you do not attach your Supporting Statement, your application will not be considered.
Birmingham City Council is an accredited Disability Confident Leader employer, and we are committed to employing, retaining and developing all of our people.
We want to ensure your recruitment journey with us is a positive and equitable one, so please let us know if there are any reasonable adjustments, additional support, accessibility needs, or if there is any way in which we can support you through your application.
Closing date 23rd October 2024 at 23.59.
Interviews for this post will take place in person in the Council House. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.
For informal enquiries, please contact Acting Business Support Manager, Will Moody at William.Moody@birmingham.gov.uk
Ref: BCC2545
We welcome applications from people with caring responsibilities and flexible working options will be considered.
Proof of Right to work in the UK will be required for all applicants in accordance with UK Home Office requirements , before any employment offer can be confirmed.
Non-UK applicants (excluding Ireland) would be required to hold a relevant Visa from the UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI).
