Description:

The Staffing Resource Team (SRT) describes a group of uniquely trained health care professionals who work in a variety of clinical areas in response to needs from the clinical areas related to short term absences or changes in acuity or volume. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible to a changing environment while providing extraordinary patient centered care.
A Personal Support Worker assigned to the Staffing Resource Team is working to promote health care excellence, quality patient/client-centered care and high professional standards. Under the supervision of the registered staff the Personal Support Worker functions as a team member assisting the patients to meet their basic physical, social, and emotional needs. The incumbent will perform all other relevant duties assigned (i.e. patient watches and ambulance runs) to ensure the efficient operation of the assigned unit.

QUALIFICATIONS:

o Secondary School Diploma or equivalent
o Successful completion of the Personal Support Worker Program
o Current BCLS
o One year related clinical experience in a healthcare environment
o Demonstrated commitment to patient/client centered care
o Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team
o Evidence of effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, judgment and decision-making skills
o Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team
o Flexible, self-directed and able to work effectively with minimal supervision
o Must be available for all shifts, vacation replacement, sick time and paid holidays
o Consistent and regular attendance required
o Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) will be considered an asset
o Full vaccination in accordance with Niagara Health’s Vaccination Policy
