Description:
Position Summary:
Receiving direction from the Nursing Supervisor or designate RN/RPN in charge, primary responsibilities will include assisting the R.N. and/or R.P.N’s in caring for the Sisters and their needs, including daily personal hygiene, making beds, bathing, feeding, handling routine care and always making the patient as comfortable as possible. The PSW is responsible to ensure that health and safety standards are met and continually reinforced.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Graduate of a recognized Personal Support Worker Certificate Program from an accredited education facility or equivalent in experience
· An interest in working with and supporting an aged population with preference for candidates with experience in gerontology
· Mechanical skills including the use of mechanical lifts, wheelchairs and equipment relevant to the PSW role.
· Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
· Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
· Ability to perform functions that require heavy lifting, bending, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and repetitive movements
· Ability to work in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills
· A police record check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate
The ability to work all shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays is a requirement for this role as well as a willingness to work flexible hours or shifts as required, based on operational needs.
Immunization Requirements: Please note that we have a mandatory vaccination and immunization policy in effect. Any offer of employment will be conditional on providing proof of vaccination in accordance with our policy.
Proof of the following are currently required:
· Documentation that you have received three doses of the Covid-19 vaccine (primary series, boosters and/or XBB) OR one dose of XBB vaccine at least 14 days prior to the start date.
· Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
· Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
