Job Description:
The Judicial Branch is a state-funded Branch of Government that offers medical/dental/vision, $20,000 free basic life insurance, state-matched 156% retirement plan, 13 paid holidays, earned paid vacation and sick leave, and more.
This classification level is responsible for providing support to the statewide human resources department requiring knowledge of human resource processes related to the assigned area. Responsibilities may include maintaining personnel records; assisting in processes such as new hire orientation, recruitment, benefits administration, or related area; maintaining salary data for annual adjustments, promotions, demotions, disciplinary etc.; processing related documents; and responding to employee questions related to the area of assignment.

Knowledge Requirements:

  • Personnel practices, procedures and terminology;
  • Recruitment, interviewing and hiring practices;
  • Record maintenance and confidentiality;
  • Federal personnel/employment laws;
  • Personnel, payroll, benefits, and related budgeting practices, forms, and requirement;
  • Employee/job safety and health practices;
  • General employee/management relations requirements and practices.

Skill Requirements:

  • Ability to interact with others in stressful situations;
  • Communication skills;
  • Performing basic arithmetic operations and calculating proportions and decimals;
  • Interpreting instructions and personnel/employment policies, rules, and laws;
  • Applying practices, procedures and principles;
  • Adapting and modifying methods or standards to meet variations;
  • Using standard office equipment including personal computers, software applications, printers, and related peripheral equipment.

Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arms and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that for Sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for Light Work.

Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinates payroll and other personnel programs (which may include workers compensation, unemployment insurance, and benefits) to ensure compliance with employment law, State policies and procedures, and administrative procedures.
  2. Explains classification policies and procedures to staff; answers questions and explains terms of employee leave, to include FMLA, and other benefits to employees and supervisors.
  3. Coordinates classification and compensation activities which may include collecting and submitting employee information and notice of change in status; assisting with audits, compliance reviews, and other mandatory reports.
  4. Prepares statistical reports; provides suggestions on workforce requirements and personal services budget requests.
  5. Prepares or maintain employment records related to events, such as hiring, termination, leaves, transfers, or promotions, using human resources management system software.
  6. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

    Requirements/ Qualifications
    Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or GED; 4 years of related human resources experience or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
    All educational credits must be granted from an accredited institution approved by the U.S. Dept. of Education.
