Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to join our Education Department as a PGCE FET and Senior Phase Lecturer and Programme Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for the academic management, lecturing, and coordination of the PGCE FET and Senior Phase programme, ensuring compliance with South African regulatory frameworks and maintaining high standards of quality and accreditation.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education, specializing in FET and/or Senior Phase education, or equivalent.
  • A PGCE qualification is an added advantage.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Educators (SACE).
  • At least 5 years of teaching experience in FET and/or Senior Phase education, with experience in academic leadership and programme coordination.
  • Experience in curriculum development and a strong understanding of CHE regulatory frameworks and South African education policies.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to coordinate academic programmes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and digital platforms for teaching and programme management.

    Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and coordinate the PGCE FET and Senior Phase programme, ensuring curriculum alignment with CHE and DHET requirements.
  • Design, develop, and continuously improve the programme to meet industry standards and accreditation requirements.
  • Engage with stakeholders, including industry experts, alumni, and academic peers, to ensure the programme remains relevant.
  • Oversee the recruitment and management of qualified part-time lecturers, ensuring they meet CHE standards.
  • Deliver engaging lectures that integrate both theoretical and practical components relevant to FET and Senior Phase education.
  • Develop and refresh course content to align with the latest educational standards and practices.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to support students in their research and academic journey.
  • Conduct research to inform programme development and integrate contemporary research into teaching practices.
  • Ensure compliance with CHE standards and DHET regulations in all aspects of the programme.
  • Coordinate the registration process for students and verify their eligibility for graduation.
