Description:
Job Overview: Delivers IV and unit dose medications. Attends periodic area meetings. Will be expected to uphold the hospital’s seven key values, participate in quality and process improvement activities of the Department of Pharmacy.
Provides technical and operational support to pharmacists and technicians to ensure that patients receive comprehensive pharmaceutical care, appropriate to the age and severity of illness of the patient. Under the direction of an Assistant Director, Technician Manager, and Staff Pharmacist, Tech Check Tech responsibilities for doses dispensed through automation.
Responsibilities:
- Aids the pharmacist and fellow technicians in the preparation and processing of medication orders and prescriptions.
- Delivers pharmacy services within patient care areas.
- Engages in a team-based approach to enhance quality improvement, aligning with the Pharmacy Department’s dedication to the philosophy and principles of Total Quality.
- Keeps knowledge and skills current and actively contributes to educating others.
- Collaborates effectively with colleagues and directs daily operations to optimize productivity.
- Assumes the role of a mentor for newly appointed technicians.
- Shares responsibility with pharmacists and managers for supervising activities within their respective areas.
- Takes on the responsibility of inventory management to ensure the availability of high-quality, in-date drug products and supplies as needed.
- Administers age/developmentally appropriate care following Age Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
- Participates in the planning process by establishing personal objectives to support quality improvement endeavors and contribute to departmental objectives.
- Adheres to the hospital’s general standards to foster a collaborative work environment through effective communication, building interpersonal relationships, and promoting teamwork
