Description:
Pharmacist - Oncology/Hematology
The Oncology Infusion Pharmacist (OIP) is responsible for overseeing all chemotherapy/hematology medication procurement, storage and preparation for our infusion center.
Responsibilities:
- Enforces policies and procedures for safe, appropriate, and cost-effective chemotherapy/medication use.
- Manages oncology pharmacy staff in admixture production, verifying chemotherapy regimens, order validation, drug preparation, and labeling.
- Reviews and advises on physicians’ medication orders for completeness and appropriateness, consulting with physicians and nurses as needed.
- Develops medication protocols, order sets, performs medication utilization reviews, and PI projects to optimize drug therapy.
- Assists in selecting appropriate evidence-based prophylaxis, chemotherapeutic, and supportive care regimens, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to evaluate drug effectiveness.
Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctorof Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy.
Experience: Minimum one to three years experience in a hospital setting preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Current MA Pharmacy license required.
