Description:

DETAILS

  • Department: Inpatient
  • Schedule: Rotating day/evening with every other weekend rotation and holiday commitmentHours:
    6:00 am to 3:00 pm

3:00 pm to 11:30 pm

  • Hospital: Ascension St. Agnes
  • Location: Baltimore, MD
  • Salary: $17.31-$25.09

Actual compensation offered will vary based on factors including applicable licenses, certifications, education, experience, location, qualifications and comparison with associates in similar roles.
Technician registration with the Maryland Board of Pharmacy is required.
Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT) from an accredited organization is a plus.

REQUIREMENTS

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) preferred.
  • Pharmacy Tech credentialed from the National Healthcareer Association preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, preferably in a hospital/clinical setting with sterile compounding.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Strong understanding of pharmaceutical calculations, drug classifications, and medical terminology.
  • Familiarity with pharmacy laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Strong Knowledge of medication compounding procedures and aseptic techniques.
  • Familiarity with drug interactions, contraindications, and side effects.
  • Skilled in measuring, packaging, and labeling medications accurately.
  • Strong communication skills for daily interaction with other healthcare professionals and colleagues.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment.
  • Knowledge of patient privacy laws and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.

Responsibilities:

Provide distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist prior to receiving

certification.

  • Refill and maintain automated dispensing system.
  • Prepare order and maintain inventory for the pharmacy department.
  • Prepare sterile and non-sterile compounds.
  • Repackage bulk medications.
  • Receive and store incoming supplies.
  • Triage incoming calls and serves as a liaison between pharmacy, patient and health professionals by providing information.
