Extend Pharmacy is Ottawa’s specialty cancer care pharmacy. Extend Pharmacy serves to improve the cancer medication experience for lives affected by cancer. Our specialized oncology pharmacy team delivers collaborative person-centred care to patients across a wide spectrum of oncology & hematology malignancies within an innovative referral, monitoring and dispensing-based pharmacy clinic practice.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you interested in joining an amazing team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants to provide exceptional care to patients receiving take-home cancer medications? We are a unique pharmacy that specializes in providing care and services for patients receiving take-home cancer medications. We are looking to expand our team with an experienced Pharmacy Assistant that is professional, reliable, compassionate, detail-oriented and ready to learn new things in a specialty pharmacy practice model. This position will involve much patient interaction so the candidate must be able to communicate well with patients and pharmacists.
Experience in a community or retail pharmacy practice setting and familiarity with Kroll dispensing software is a pre-requisite for this position. The ability to speak at least conversational French is required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Reliable and dependable, with a strong sense of professionalism and integrity
  • Excellent communication skills with patients, colleagues, and other health care workers
  • Detail-oriented and strong ability to accurately and safely complete assigned tasks.
  • Basic inventory skills related to storage, security and legal issues.
  • Fluency in languages other than English is considered an asset
    Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
    Pay: From $28.00 per hour

Responsibilities:

  • Be kind, welcoming and compassionate
  • Serve as a friendly and knowledgeable first point of contact for patients and their families
  • To answer the telephone politely and help direct patients to their care providers
  • Help the pharmacy team to coordinate medication deliveries, receive inventory and help with other administrative functions
  • Understand and operate Kroll Pharmacy software and all systems supporting the dispensing and distribution of take-home cancer medications.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of prescription distribution in Kroll and other distribution systems and software.
  • Be responsible for the accurate and timely completion of daily job duties and responsibilities.
    · Be professional and courteous to patients and maintain patient confidentiality.
