OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Pharmacy Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support pharmacists in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring the efficient operation of the pharmacy. Your responsibilities will include assisting with medication administration, managing inventory, and providing excellent customer service to patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and experience in a hospital or pharmacy setting.
EXPERIENCE
- Previous experience as a Pharmacy Assistant or in a similar role is preferred but not required.
- Familiarity with medical terminology is essential for effective communication within the healthcare team.
- Experience in a hospital or clinical setting is highly desirable.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for success in this position.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with patients and colleagues alike.

Pay: From $17.10 per hour

Responsibilities:
· Assist the Pharmacist/Pharmacy Technician with the preparation, packaging and distribution of patient prescriptions
· Input all prescriptions, labels and consent forms to ensure patient information is up to date
· Take appropriate action(s) to prevent and reduce medication errors and medication discrepancies and implement measures to prevent recurrence
· Perform cash management duties, including processing customers through the till and cash-out duties per SOP’s, if applicable
· Ensure deliveries are processed in an accurate and timely fashion and ensure proper documentation is maintained
· Ensure all patient inquiries regarding prescriptions and non-prescriptions medications, uses, treatments, and recommendations are referred to the pharmacist on duty
· Maintain efficient flow of merchandise from receiving to the dispensary
· Monitor inventory levels and identify approaching and critical expiration dates
· Control cash, cheques, etc, in accordance with cash handling policies and procedures
· Perform the necessary cash register functions on the POS terminal in accordance with SOPs
· Comply with all health and safety requirements
· Maintain confidentiality in all matters
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Ability to travel to work at other Rexall outpatient pharmacy sites
· Demonstrated customer service skills
· Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
· Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills
· Discretion in handling confidential matters
