Description:

PHARMACY

Duties / Responsibilities
· Assesses the identity, strength, and purity of medications.
· Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors by
calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients or overseeing these
activities.
· Prepares sterile solutions and infusions for use in surgical procedures,
emergency rooms, or patients’ homes.
· Collaborates with other healthcare professionals to plan, monitor, review, and
evaluate the quality and effectiveness of drugs and drug regimens, providing
advice on drug applications and characteristics.
· Procures medical/pharmaceutical supplies and drugs, maintains stock, and
stores it properly as per SOPs.
· Plans, implements and maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, and
labeling drugs/pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements, to
ensure quality, security, and proper disposal.
Preventive / Promotive
· Analyzes prescribing trends to avoid overstocking and expiry of drugs in
storage or running short of some item/s.
· Circulates availability of excess drugs/perishable items within six months of
expiry date to other hospitals through MS/Health Department.
· Complies strictly with SOPs on Infection Control and Waste Management.
· Advises clients not to stock medicines in quantities at home to avoid losses due
to their expiry and misuse, which may endanger life.
· Educates people/clients on the harmful effects of excessive medications.
· Offers health promotion, for example, training people to use devices such as
blood pressure or diabetes monitors.
· Trains fresh subordinate staff to perform their duties efficiently.
· Uses specific supervisory tools, i.e. checklists for various jobs, to assess the
performance of incumbents and to maintain system efficiency.
· Shares educational information for other pharmacists, doctors, and/or patients.
General
· Manages entire pharmacy operations.
· Takes charge of subordinate staff regarding punctuality, dress & discipline, etc.
· Plans and notifies staff duties, and supervising staff.
· Maintains records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files,
inventories, control records for controlled drugs.
· Prepares statistical reports of Pharmacy.
· Strictly controls Narcotics and Poisons to avoid medicolegal implications.
· Conforms to Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) through Standard
Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Performs any other professional duty assigned by the in charge.
