The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for complying with all applicable SCP standards for pharmacy managers, and provincial and federal laws which govern the profession of pharmacy practice.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for their team’s scheduling, new hire training, and adherence to operational processes to support the fulfillment of the team’s goals — accuracy, efficiency, quality, organization — while maintaining regulatory compliance. The Pharmacy Operations Manager embodies and reinforces CareRx’s Mission, Vision and Values commitments as a way to support a positive team culture.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Displays a discipline to manage to the CareRx Company-wide SOPs, Lean processes, best practices, KPIs etc.
  • Makes decisions and manages the operations within a defined framework
  • Escalates new ideas and innovations in an appropriate manner and through the proper channels
  • Demonstrates the ability to identify and remove bottlenecks to keep processes moving, whilst not recreating the process
  • Displays focused, repeatable and disciplined execution in meeting customer requirements
  • Understands audit and regulatory requirements (e.g. Health Canada audits, narcotic controls) and does not deviate from those requirements
  • Demonstrates the ability to deal with pressure and persevere through challenging employee and customer situations
  • Effectively balances the requirements of the customer, employee and business
  • Monitors, maintains and adjusts adequate staffing levels/ratios
  • Problem solves and/or participates in conflict/dispute resolution as required
  • Leads the prescription fulfillment, packaging and verification department:
  • Manage weekly prescription batch schedule
  • Ensure optimization of robotic packagers and optical verification machines
  • Uses analytics and metrics to improve the efficiency of production
  • Investigates production/correction/verification related incidents
  • Develops and oversees onboarding and training of new employees as well as cross-training of employees
  • Displays a dynamic and engaging personality
  • Coaches and motivates through positives and challenges
  • Balances the needs of multiple teams and is effectively able to explain the “why” of decisions

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Registration and in good standing with Alberta College of Pharmacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team
  • Ability to remain unbiased when assigning tasks and resolving disputes
  • Strong leadership, team building and delegation skills
  • Availability outside regular business hours as applicable
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, oral and written communication skills and the ability to interact with persons of varying levels across the organization in a professional and mature manner
  • Highly organized and possess excellent time management skills
  • Skilled in critical thought processes and can prioritize appropriately
  • Self-directed and has strong accountability for overall pharmacy results
  • Motivated to achieve results that reflect a high standard of quality
  • Must demonstrate good listening skills and be adaptable to changes in the job environment
  • Certified in LEAN or Six Sigma, would be an asset; previous knowledge of process re-engineering will be important
