Your Opportunity:
Pharmacy Technicians will work with Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists working to their full scope of practice. Under limited supervision of the Operations Manager, Pharmacy Technicians work collaboratively within the health care team performing moderately complex duties, performing all aspects of drug distribution and inventory control to provide efficient daily operation of all departmental services leading to safe and quality patient care. Casual positions are short notice call in, shifts are not routinely scheduled. Core duties may include, but are not limited to: distribution related tasks, repackaging, final product checking and release required by Regulated health professionals, handling and storage of controlled substances, inventory control and management including receiving and purchasing of pharmaceuticals, emphasis on turn over to reduce outdating of medications, and provision of ward stock. Assisting with training of staff hires and students. Obtaining information to facilitate medication reconciliation activities and clarifying discrepancies to support the provision of direct patient care as required. Maintaining department records, statistics and preparing reports as required. Building interactive relationships with all members of the healthcare team including communicating with nursing staff to clarify orders and requests, triaging drug information questions and distribution issues, providing zone support to program when required. Completion of internal validation programs as required for final product checking. Participating in special projects, performs other duties deemed necessary or assigned.
