DESCRIPTION OF THE POSITION

The Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC; one position) and Immuno-oncology (IO, one position) units are looking for highly motivated students with a strong background in cell biology to work as a Phase1 R&D-trainee during the summer of 2025. You will support early-stage drug discovery as a part of a unit focusing on target identification, validation, and mechanism of action studies. You will do hands-on laboratory work such as mammalian cell culture and related assays as well as participate in daily laboratory maintenance under the supervision of scientists and experienced research assistants. The position is placed in the research laboratories in Turku.

DESCRIPTION OF THE UNITS

Antibody-Drug Conjugates (ADC) unit is one of three Research teams in Orion’s Oncology R&D. Antibody-drug conjugates are a class of biopharmaceutical targeted therapy drugs for treating cancer. The ADC unit is accountable for novel drug discovery projects and the identification and validation of potential ADC drug targets with state-of-the-art technologies. Immuno-Oncology (IO) is one of the three Research teams in Orion’s Oncology R&D. IO team is accountable for novel drug discovery projects, identification of unmet need, identification & experimental validation of potential IO drug targets within state-of-the-art laboratories and technologies

REQUIREMENTS

A successful applicant has hands-on experience of laboratory work and previous experience in working in a mammalian cell culture laboratory. Additionally, we expect that you have completed at least 3 years of university studies in the field of health sciences (for example cell biology, molecular biology or biochemistry). You are a highly motivated and accurate professional with good communication skills in English and the ability to interact in a collaborative work environment.
