YOUR QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a degree in a mathematical or computational field (e.g. mathematics or computer science). A strong academic background and experience in one or more relevant programming languages (Python, R, Julia etc.) are important as well as a clear interest in the data sciences (AI, ML, statistics) per se. A strong background in AI, ML or statistics or related topics (e.g. probability, optimization, stochastic processes etc.) would be relevant. Prior exposure to biomedical research is not required. Strong scientific communication and writing skills are important.

Responsibilities:

The group of Prof Sach Mukherjee has an opening for a PhD candidate in the area of artificial intelligence (AI) for biomedicine. Our research efforts centre on AI, machine learning (ML) and high-dimensional modelling for next-generation biomedicine. Current methodological foci include deep neural networks for causal learning; robust, scientifically-constrained AI; and high-dimensional learning. Applications span large-scale molecular biology and “omics” as well as precision medicine. The focus of the position is on novel methodology for complex, high-dimensional data.
