Responsibilities:

MAIN TASKS

Basic researchers and clinical scientists form functional and interacting research units at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf and have recently acquired the DFG-funded research group (FOR 5705) NeuroFlame - Defense and Demise of Inflamed Neurons. From January 1, 2025, this research group will investigate cellular and molecular aspects in inflamed neurons, in particular the calcium overload in neurons caused by excitotoxicity (Hermann et al., Front Cell Dev Biol. 2020 Jun 25;8:496).

YOUR TASKS

  • Performing and analyzing difficult and complex, often highly cooperative experimental studies on calcium signaling in murine neurons. Microscopic LiveCell Imaging methods in the high- and super-resolution range are used.
  • Participation in the planning and design of experimental studies, including planning of collaborations within FOR 5705, as well as with national and international partners
  • Presentation of experimental results at internal events and biomedical congresses
  • Participation in the preparation of scientific publications
    This position is to be filled for a limited period of 4 years as part of a funded research project.
