Responsibilities:

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Proposal and grant writing for funding opportunities with a value of under €10K.
  • Responsible for administration relating to income from bequests and small grants.
  • The role will have an emphasis on database management through processes and procedures within Salesforce CRM.
  • Support with the administration associated with income from bequests, grants, major donors and capital development.
  • Support the Philanthropy & Funding Development Manager with the delivery of the Philanthropy & Funding Development Fundraising strategy.
  • Research ideas through Dublin Simon Community services and the organisations funding requirements and develop products and proposals that will help attract support from foundations and individuals.
  • Support with the preparation, design, proofreading and coordinating sign off on donor communications including a quarterly newsletter.
  • Identify, research and present leads that have the potential to contribute to the range of team products including grants, major donors and capital development.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of—and the ability to articulate—Dublin Simon Community’s objectives as well as details about specific services and projects across the organisation and capital development products and property acquisitions and development.
  • Be the key relationship for the Data Care team, working closely to verify and input new donor data, including donations, appeals, and personal information.
  • Monthly financial, performance and donor reporting through Salesforce.
  • Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant departmental software Salesforce in order to improve communication with Dublin Simon Community donors.
  • Support, guidance and training to volunteers and interns when working with the team.
  • Support the team in organising cultivation events and support external parties to do same.
  • Support the team in the execution of donor communication and engagement strategy using all communication mediums e.g. website, newsletters, social media, video, case for support and cultivation events.
  • Help cultivate relationships with targeted Dublin Simon donors.
  • Represent the team on internal working groups to source new ideas and establish strong working relationships throughout the community.
  • Support the delivery of key fundraising and other ad-hoc events by working across teams in the Fundraising and Communications Department at different times of the year.

ESSENTIAL FOR THE ROLE

  • Minimum 1-year experience in a similar environment with an ability to work to tight deadlines, in a pressurised environment.
  • Strong customer orientation with excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills.
  • Experience with grant and proposal writing.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, coupled with excellent administrative skills.
  • Experience of dealing effectively with external contacts, face-to-face and by telephone.
  • Ability to develop relationships with a wide range of individuals.
  • Keen attention to detail and good numeracy skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with other team members.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • A positive and flexible approach to working in a busy, open-plan office.
  • Ability to work varied hours, including some evening and weekend commitments.
  • Motivation, eagerness to learn and progress, with a desire to develop a career in the not-for-profit sector.

DESIRABLE FOR THE ROLE

  • 3rd level qualification in Marketing/PR/Sales/Events or similar
  • Experience of working in fundraising and/or the non-profit sector.
  • Experience in customer care.
  • Experience of event, corporate or community fundraising as well as an understanding of corporate social responsibility issues.
  • Understanding of homeless issues in Ireland.
  • Experience of Salesforce, Dublin Simon Community’s fundraising database, or another CRM platform.
