Their work will impact and change future generations! Girl Scouts of Central California South (GSCCS) is looking for a dynamic Philanthropy Manager to join our team in Fresno, CA!
POSITION SUMMARY:The Philanthropy Manager will assist in the execution and management of Girl Scouts of Central California South (GSCCS) fund development (fundraising) efforts in the Fresno, Tulare & Madera markets. This role requires a highly strategic and visionary person, as they will work directly with the Senior Director of External Relations to create, launch, and manage a new strategic development plan. It is expected that the Philathropy Manager will raise funds equal to his/her salary the first year of employment and will increase fundraising revenue each year thereafter. He/she will systematically and effectively strengthen the organization’s overall fundraising capacity. The Philanthropy Manager has an emphasis on growing the organization’s individual donor portfolio, by building and maintaining close relationships with key donors. The Philanthropy Manager also serves as a spokesperson of GSCCS, as designated. This is a high-profile position, requiring strong networking and donor cultivation skills. The successful candidate will help forge new relationships with individuals in the community to build GSCCS’ visibility and financial resources. Requirements:

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years of professional experience in nonprofit fundraising (full cycle), with proven results and achievement in campaign development and major/principle gifts.
  • Complete end-to-end understanding of fundraising strategies, systems, and processes.
  • Bachelor’s degree; Certificate in Fund Raising Management preferred.
  • Experienced in constructing, articulating and implementing a strategic development plan.
  • Prior direct responsibility for cultivating, soliciting and stewarding gifts of $25,000 or more.
  • Strong leadership skills to mentor and motivate others to reach development goals.
  • A history of working directly with non-profits in support of fundraising efforts.
  • Knowledge of local and regional corporate and foundation communities; preexisting connection to the North Valley preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills and use of data to drive fundraising, partnership decisions and forecasting.
  • An expert storyteller who can channel personal connection to GSCCS’ mission.
  • Belief in the mission and values of Girl Scouting; willing to subscribe to the principles expressed inthe Girl Scouts Promise and Law.

ADDITIONAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Clearance of background check.
  • Become a registered member of GSUSA and GSCCS.
  • Access to reliable transportation.

The incumbent must be able to perform the following qualifications in order to be offered and/or maintain employment in this position.

Responsibilities:

Donor Relations & Communication:

  • Maintain a personal portfolio of approximately 70-100 top donors and prospects to solicit andclose major gifts.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of GSCCS program offerings and services to articulate need andimpact to donors.
  • Build and maintain critical relationships with key local organizations and partners.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and support to donors, volunteers, staff, and othercommunity contacts.
  • Create and implement innovative strategies for securing new and untapped funding resources.

Fundraising Operations:

  • Assist the Senior Director of External Relations in a moves management approach to individualand institutional giving.
  • Refine and/or establish policies, systems and procedures, with a special emphasis on professionalism and ethical standards, for soliciting, acknowledging, tracking, and reporting gifts.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of events to deliver a superb donor experience andmeet fundraising goals.
  • Monitor the appropriate use of donor software and reporting, ensuring donor privacy, dataaccuracy and timeliness of acknowledgements and reporting.
  • Leverage technology and data across all development strategies and practices.

Fundraising and Friendraising Events:

  • Assist in the planning and execution of a variety of fundraising and friendraising events withResource Development.
  • Effectively leverage all GSCCS events as opportunities to identify, cultivate, and steward both newand existing donors, as well as create external awareness to new friends of Girl Scouts in the five counties GSCCS serves.

Communications and Marketing:

  • In partnership with the Resource Development Department and Marketing Department, ensurethe development of effective internal and external communications strategies that advance the North Valley’s strategic goals.
  • Provide oversight of developing and monitoring public relations/communications/mediainitiatives and marketing strategies to promote the North Valley Girl Scout image for donor/sponsor cultivation.
  • Establish a presence in the community to increase the Council’s visibility as a funding opportunity for potential and current or past donors, grantors and sponsors.
  • Act as the Council’s representative for North Valley public relations/communications/media, as designated.
  • Grant Writing and Management:
  • Research, identify, and apply for grants that align with GSCCS’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Manage the full grant lifecycle, including proposal writing, submission, reporting, and compliance.
  • Cultivate relationships with grant-making organizations and foundations to secure funding.
  • Maintain detailed records of grant applications, reports, and correspondence.

Strategic Planning & Execution:

  • Work with the Senior Director of External Relations to support the Council’s fundraising strategy and operations.
  • Lead, develop and execute strategies for North Valley fundraising areas including campaigns,major gifts, individual giving, planned giving, special events, foundation grants, corporate sponsorships, an annual fund, and events.

Internal Management:

  • Serve as a close strategic advisor and partner to the Senior Director of External Relations, as well as a member of the Council Leadership team.
  • Build a culture of philanthropy across the organization and our Board, demonstrating how all can be stronger advocates for GSCCS in the community.
  • Work to foster a culture of continuous improvement, ensuring the highest level of internal and external customer service.
  • Create and manage clear success metrics, holding self-accountable to achieving those goals.
