Description:
The Phlebotomist 2 draws and collects blood samples from patients, verifies records and prepares specimens for laboratory analysis. Performs all pre-analytical functions. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job. Relies on establish guidelines to accomplish tasks. Develops a complete understanding of specimen collection and handling in order to preserve specimen validity and integrity Must have excellent customer service skills and frequently works independently outside the main lab. - Procedures for the aseptic collection of samples for blood culture are followed with less than 3% contamination rate.
- Phlebotomy areas are maintained in a sanitary and properly supplied condition at all times.
- Positive patient identification and specimen labeling is followed at all times with less than 2 incidents a year.
- All specimen collection devices and techniques are properly utilized at all times as evidenced by less than 2 incidents per year.
