• Department: Phlebotomy
• Schedule: Full time, night shift, 6pm-6:30am, 3 12-hr shifts per week
• Hospital: Saint Thomas Midtown
• Location: 2000 Church Street, Nashville, TN

REQUIREMENTS

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
• Phlebotomy Tech preferred.

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate’s degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Collect and process blood specimens for testing, register patients and serve as a resource to phlebotomy team.

Responsibilities:

• Register patient information and order laboratory tests.
• Evaluate test request for method, time, patient preparation and proper collection procedures.
• Train new and current staff in the different areas of the department.
• Draw and collect blood samples according to policy. Verify all related records.
• Label, process and deliver specimens for testing according to protocol.
• Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment, instruments, and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures.
• Assist with coordinating and conducting blood drives, including interviewing and screening donors.
• Assist with office duties such as OP orders, answering phone, faxing, and filing.
