About the role

  • To participate in the provision, development and maintenance of an effective, efficient and equitable clinical service to medical endocrine inpatients and outpatients
  • To contribute to the continual upgrading of medical education, and dissemination of knowledge to staff and patients.
  • The appointment will be to the Metro North Health for the provision of services to one of the acute Hospitals.
  • The position ensures 3 months of infectious disease rotation and 9 months of rotating medical terms with the possibility to conduct a research project under the supervision of one of our specialist ID physicians.
  • Provide medical care to neurology outpatients under the supervision of a specialist ID physician.
  • Provide ward-based ID consultations and reviews for surgical, ICU and medical teams under the supervision of a specialist ID physician.
  • Attendance to ID case discussion and journal club in Metro North Meetings.
  • Document relevant clinical information accurately, concisely and legibly in inpatient charts.
  • Conduct comprehensive clinical assessments of patients in an emergency department, medical ward and outpatient setting.
  • Arrange and initiate clinical investigations and discharge planning as directed by the supervising consultant.
  • Conduct daily review of patients.
  • To ensure comprehensive, accurate and concise medical records are maintained for all patients
  • Participation in clinical governance and research including an assigned individualised ID project.
  • Participation in out-of-hours roster including nights, evenings, and weekends.
  • Comply with and utilise procedures, policies, regulations and standards which impact upon the position, including contemporary human resource management requirements and practices, such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination.
