Responsibilities:

The Physical Chemistry and Applied Spectroscopy (C-PCS) group at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is looking for a talented and experimentally adept technologist in the field of spectroscopy. Our group engages in multi-disciplinary research focused on the use of spectroscopy to investigate a variety of complex problems. Focused areas of research include biology, remote sensing, explosives, nanoparticle science, and space applications. The group is seeking technologists with expertise in one or more of these focused areas of research. The chosen candidates may assist multiple investigators spanning these diverse teams.
The candidate will have the opportunity to work on world class science efforts, based on their area of technical expertise. This may involve performing spectroscopic characterization of materials and processes, or developing materials for remote sensing applications in the interest of national security. The successful candidate will deisgn and execute experiments in concert with the project principal investigators, will be responsible for data accrual and reporting and in some instances may be delegated to lead specific aspects of a project. The candidate will have administrative responsibilities that surround the performance of complex experimental work - such as ordering, maintaining equipment, seeking approvals for new operations or renewal of previous operations, installation and maintaining new equipment, training of new personnel, and sometimes, responsibilities of management of the laboratory. In addition to performing experiments and data reporting, they will also be expected to contribute to the analysis of the data, contribute ideas to proposals, and may co-author scientific publications
