Description:

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Associate Director to lead our Physical Commodities Operations team based in London. The team is responsible for providing business-aligned operations such as deal validation, settlement, trade finance, trade documentation and inventory control support to Macquarie’s commodities business. The Commodity Markets and Financing business at Macquarie has grown quickly over recent years and this role presents an opportunity to be part of a fast-evolving team and business.

What role will you play?
You will lead a team of high-performing commodity operations specialists who are responsible for providing support to the physical commodities business in EMEA by driving performance, and fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. You will utilise your organisational skills to review the current state of physical commodity operations, identify a plan for any uplift, and see through delivery. Your role will consist of keeping a pulse on commodity market and technology trends, demonstrating an entrepreneurial mindset to identify and leverage new opportunities that align with our strategic goals, particularly in managing risk. You will also build and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders across the business, risk and operations teams.

What you offer

  • 10+ years’ of experience in physical commodities, experience within a banking or regulated financial setting is preferred
  • Proven track record of leading diverse teams to achieve strong results
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate and deliver projects that drive measurable risk management outcomes
  • Ability to balance the detail of physical commodity business process and controls, with the ability to think broadly and create a strategic plan
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, comfortable interacting with and influencing senior internal and external stakeholders.
