Description:

DESCRIPTION

Creating Opportunities for Physical Activity (COPA) is a physical activity and nutrition initiative in seven K-5 elementary schools in Wilmington, CA. COPA works to build a culture of daily physical activity and healthy eating on school campuses and in the surrounding community using a peer coach model. The peer coach model differs from direct service in that all activities are conducted with a focus on training others on how to perform the functions to ensure long-term sustainability.
The PE Assistant is responsible for assisting PE Instructors in delivering a physical activity-based psychomotor program for K-5th grade. The PE Assistant works with 20-35 students at a physical activity station for 10 minutes and then rotates the students to the next station. Station activities can include tag games, jump roping, cooperative games, skill development activities, etc.
The ideal candidate is passionate about physical activity and nutrition and has experience working with K-5 students in a school/after-school setting. This individual will also be resourceful, well-organized, and creative in promoting and enhancing program needs and services.
