Description:
DESCRIPTION
The Physician Assistant’s role consists of practitioner, consultant, and educator. The Physician Assistant will function as a member of the inter-disciplinary care team in the implementation of patient care. The Physician Assistant will collaborate with the attending neurologists and epilepsy specialists in the provision of care to patients with epilepsy.
This position is eligible for hybrid work in conjunction with the Remote Work Policy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Graduate of a University Physician Assistant Program or equivalent
- Current registration with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA) is preferred
- Proven leadership abilities with excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills
- Strong report writing skills
- Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
- Commitment to confidentiality
- Excellent teamwork and team building skills
- Experience in provision of patient care considered an asset
- Experience using electronic medical records systems, considered an asset
- Commitment to the TOH mission, vision and values
- Fluency in French and English
Responsibilities:
Your role will include, but not limited to:
- To provide consultation and follow up to patients in an outpatient clinic setting with a diagnosis of
seizures and epilepsy
- Consultation as well as follow-up visits will include:
- history and physical examination
- Completion of consultation reports to referring physicians
- Review of prescription of appropriate medications
- Review of prescription of appropriate interventions
- Patient education
- Arrangement for services and follow up of patients as appropriate
- All consultations and reports will be reviewed with the attending epileptologist
- Programming neurostimulation devices
- Be an educational resource for patients
- Participate in surgical management of epilepsy patients as delegated and supervised by the epileptologist, this may include attending sessions in the operating room.
- Participate in research related to epilepsy
- Performing other duties within your competencies as Physician Assistant as delegated by the supervising physician
