: The salary range for this position is CAD $42.56/Hr. - CAD $52.95/Hr.
Summary:
Reporting to the Clinical Operations Manager, and receiving professional practice leadership and support from the Professional Practice Leader, Physiotherapy, this position supports the interdisciplinary Hope to Health Team (which also includes social workers, nursing, psychologists, physicians, pharmacists, etc.) in achieving program and patient goals.
This includes providing evidence based clinical assessment, treatment and education grounded in physiotherapy theory and relevant post-graduate studies to outpatients with movement dysfunction, musculoskeletal and chronic/complex pain issues within a group setting and/or on an individual basis. Provides leadership and expertise in the evaluation and treatment of physical functioning/abilities, provides a therapeutic environment and self-management education, monitors patient outcomes and adjusts care plans as required by working collaboratively with patients, families and caregivers, and outside agencies.
What You Bring:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Physiotherapy. Three (3) years recent related experience working in a chronic disease management setting including one year working with the specialized needs of patients with complex pain or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.
  • Current registration with the College of Physical Therapists of B.C. Eligible for membership with the Canadian Physiotherapy Association.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of physiotherapy clinical practice related to treatment and care of patients with chronic/complex pain conditions.
  • Knowledge and ability to use relevant evidence-based approach in pain management and musculoskeletal assessment and treatment.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the pathophysiology of pain.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking and evidence based approaches to develop assessment, treatment and discharge plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and to develop strong working relationships with patients, families, other health care providers as well as outside stakeholders and community therapists.
  • Ability to develop, review, evaluate and write clinical protocols and guidelines and patient education materials.
  • Knowledge of outcome measures related to pain management also research methodology and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach and to conduct and facilitate formal and informal presentations, demonstrations and lectures related to physiotherapy and complex pain management.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate therapeutic and educational patient groups.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in conflict resolution issues.
  • Physical, emotional and cognitive ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and prioritize issues and workload.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate progress notes, discharge summaries and compose medical legal reports.

ABOUT US

The Hope to Health Clinic, Research and Innovation Centre in the Downtown Eastside is a unique and innovative health clinic comprised of a multidisciplinary clinical team focused on providing primary and specialty care for patients/ clients in the Downtown Eastside(DTES). The R&I centre is staffed by an interdisciplinary team (e.g., physicians, nurses, counsellors, peer navigators) and provides “wrap-around” healthcare to clients ensuring they receive the full continuum of care under one roof. Hope to Health Clinic works as part of the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS.(BC-CfE).
The BC-CfE is a world-renowned HIV/AIDS Centre with innovative, low barrier approach to healthcare delivery in clinical practice and an integrated group of research concentrations in Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Trials, Population Health and Epidemiology, Health Economics and Professional Education Programs. A multidisciplinary team of clinicians including Physicians, Nurses, Social Workers and Peers and researchers including Health Economists, Epidemiologists, Clinical Researchers, Statisticians, Programmers, and Data Analysts work collaboratively to improve the health of British Columbians with HIV and communities facing socio-economic barriers in accessing healthcare.
