Description:
To work at an advanced level of clinical practice as the clinical lead Perinatal Pelvic Health Physiotherapist, implementing and developing care pathways in line with NHS Englands service specification for perinatal pelvic health services. To work with maternity and other perinatal services to improve the prevention, identification, and access to National Institute for Health and Care Excellence-recommended treatment for pelvic health problems antenatally, and for at least 12 months postnatally. To build on the existing midwifery-led pelvic health service, and the established multidisciplinary team (MDT) that supports it, to optimise multiprofessional pathways of care through service development, direct clinical care and problem resolution. To provide robust clinical leadership to the teams delivering care for women and birthing people through effective communication, influencing, motivating and inspiring others, to deliver high quality care.
To act as the clinical interface between service leads for medical and surgical aspects of pelvic health; leading the coordination of complex cases and clinical pathway management, so that women are able to achieve their desired outcomes, and to deliver good practice. To educate, train and develop physiotherapy staff and undergraduates in this specialty and to provide assurance of competency; and train other health professionals in aspects of pelvic health care. To provide expert clinical advice and guidance on a range of matters relating to pelvic health to the ICB Local Maternity and Neonatal Service (LMNS), including progress on PPHS project delivery. Act as the Chair person for the PPHS Steering Group, engaging a wide range of stakeholders to inform service implementation, development and improvement initiatives, and ways to address clinical challenges.
To ensure that the PPHS achieves key performance indicators (KPIs) that relate to pelvic health services and implementation of the national service specification for PPHS. To identify, lead and support audit and research projects in order to evaluate service delivery.
