Within Cancer Care Alberta (CCA), Supportive Care services are provided by a team of health care professionals dedicated to enhancing the quality of life of those affected by cancer by providing support and expert care from the time of diagnosis through treatment and beyond. The team of healthcare professionals working in CCA are leaders in cancer diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliative care. The Rehabilitation Oncology Team at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre is part of Supportive Care South, CCA. The team is working on building capacity locally and provincially to ensure timely and effective patient care. The rehabilitation team needs a temporary part-time Physiotherapist II (PTII) Team Lead to join and lead the regional rehabilitation team. Under general supervision of the Supportive Care Manager, the PTII provides day-to-day clinical leadership of rehabilitation staff and coordinates the delivery of services at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre and across other regional sites offering cancer rehabilitation. The PTII also provides direct patient care to patients with cancer-related impairments and functional limitations. Other responsibilities include assisting the manager with operational and practice needs including daily coordination of the staff and students, committee and working group involvement, staff orientation/ education and participation in program development, evaluation and improvement. This position is physically demanding and requires repetitive lifting and transferring of patients and or equipment. The caseload and days of work for all positions within Rehabilitation Oncology South may change based on operational needs. All employees new to Alberta Health Services are required to submit a completed Communicable Disease Assessment form to Workplace Health& Safety by their first day.
Description:
As a Physiotherapist II, you will provide coordination of physiotherapy and other allied health clinical services. You will provide supervision of students and team members as assigned. You will work both independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team providing leadership to other healthcare professionals. You will be making day-to-day clinical decisions on patient/family needs regarding assessment, intervention, discharge and follow-up. You will make decisions and advise team members on complex clinical cases and provide clinical leadership within the program or service area to ensure safe, efficient and effective client care. You will ensure physiotherapy practice is evidence based and in alignment with Alberta legislation and regulations, professional standards of practice, code of ethics and AHS policy and guidelines. You will be coordinating the day-to-day operations of an assigned service area and monitoring care delivery, identifying service needs and assisting other medical staff with caseload management, completing chart audits and providing follow-up and feedback to staff. You will participate in program development and operational planning and representing the department on committees or programs. You will make decisions on staffing level requirements, workflow, caseload priorities in collaboration with managers and other healthcare providers. AHS is dedicated to supporting our Physiotherapists in their practice area and expanding their skillsets regardless of location. All AHS Physiotherapists have access to a list of experienced clinicians across the province and are able to tap into this resource via email, phone and virtual meetings. As we transition to our Provincial Electronic Medical Record (Connect Care) you will also be able to share patient information real time with these senior clinicians to assist you in providing high quality care.
