Description:
This role sits within the Belsay Day Unit (BDU) Physiotherapy team who are a small, friendly and innovative team. We met regularly for in-services and complete regular audit of our service to ensure best practice. Our team have specialist knowledge of Parkinsons specific exercise training, vestibular rehabilitation, balance therapy, hydrotherapy, strength training in sarcopenia to name a few and in this role you will get further training and development of these therapy approaches through shadowing and supervision. In addition to this our team regularly attends external CPD courses to continuously improve what we offer our patients.
This role is varied with a mix of 1:1 patient treatment carrying your own caseload as well as provision and organization of group exercise including strength, balance, hydrotherapy and exercises for people with Parkinsons Disease. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated team member to further enhance our specialist unit. Opportunities: In addition to in-house teaching opportunities, attending external CPD courses for relevant therapy approaches including PD specific exercise programs, balance rehabilitation and hydrotherapy. Exposure to MDT clinics including memory service, Parkinsons Disease Clinic, Falls and Syncope Service, Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment, optimization prior to surgery for older adults.

Thursdays and Fridays are fixed days for this job role, but some flexibility in hours and other day for the right candidate. To undertake specific skilled support work to aid the Physiotherapy team in the efficient and effective delivery of Physical Rehabilitation to patients within speciality area within the framework of clinical governance To accept a patient caseload referred by a physiotherapist according to specific criteria. To treat patients according to set protocols, monitoring patient progress, modifying and progressing patient treatment programmes as required, with referral back to physiotherapists as/when appropriate To carry out basic assessment and treatment of non-complex patients as delegated by the physiotherapist (to include basic chest physiotherapy and mobility protocols) To provide and deliver individualised exercise programmes To accurately record rehabilitation progress as per Trust documentation / database including physiotherapeutic outcome measures To undertake a clinical caseload within speciality area , without supervision for at least 50% of the time within protocols and guidelines set by the designated physiotherapist To coordinate, supervise and teach junior therapy assistants As a flexible working friendly organisation, we want to be sure that you can work in a way that is best for us and for our patients, and for you.
