As our Pilot Selection Manager, you will be responsible to Flight Operations for leading a team of specialised pilot selection specialists (PSS) who provide pilot aviation knowledge and evaluative input into the selection process for the successful recruitment of high calibre Flight Crew, to meet the operational recruitment needs of the organisation.

Responsibilities:

IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL:

  • In collaboration with the recruitment team, you will tailor the approach and improve the process of pilot attraction, selection, and induction of crew. You will encourage innovative approaches to attraction and create communication strategies aimed at sourcing the most qualified and experienced candidates. Pro-actively establish a CCMB pathway and communications platform for candidates.
  • Manage the selection simulator activities locally in Dubai and overseas including the scheduling of overseas Pre-Screening Programmes (PSP), roadshows and job fairs in collaboration with recruitment. Develop and maintain supplier relationships with overseas simulator management teams. Oversee the simulator assessment pilots and PSS interaction with candidates throughout the duration of the selection programme.
  • Direct PSS teams involved in Assessment Centre activities to assess the behavioural competencies of candidates for Flight Crew along with the ‘cultural best fit’ for the company. Provide recommendations and ratify panel decisions for successful and unsuccessful candidates as required.
  • Ensure pilot training course plans are adequately catered for with correctly qualified crew whilst effectively managing the pilot roll-over process.
  • Oversee competency-based technical behavioural interviews for Direct Entry Captains and First Officers whilst ensuring alignment with the company framework, and established principles and practices.
  • Provide direct coaching and leadership to the pilot selection team and oversee the short-listing and scheduling of pilot selection activities.
  • Evaluate the available resources required to conduct pilot selections and ensure effective and economical utilization.
  • Oversee the short-listing of on-line Pilot applicants through utilisation of technical knowledge and scoring matrices / guidelines and manage the requisition process.
  • Liaise with Flight Operations and Group Medical on the establishment planning parties to evaluate the future need for pilots. Plan, lead, and execute the process of pilot screening and selection.
  • Coordinate simulator assessments and scheduling requirements through Flight Training. Maintain process currency by continuingly validity and ensuring the reliability of test instruments and selection criteria.
  • At the direction of SVP-Fleet, you will lead and participate in Flight Operations project teams to drive innovations that enhance the recruitment service provided including enhancement of systems, processes and/or methodologies.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE: TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THE ROLE, YOU MUST MEET THE BELOW REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years’ experience as Flight Deck Crew (Pilots) or other relevant experience in pilot selection or recruitment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with powerful ability to persuade, influence, negotiate, and manage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A Degree or Honours is preferred but not required.
