The Hartford’s Florida Clerical Assistant will enjoy a high-volume, paperless environment that is both dynamic and rewarding. Our selected candidate will support Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Attorneys. The Clerical Assistant regularly communicates with our Attorneys, Paralegal, Legal Assistants, clients, business partners, local courts, and opposing counsel in litigation matters. A successful candidate shall efficiently respond to pre-trial conference orders as well as file litigation documentation to initiate representation and discovery. They will also handle scheduling for all litigation events including but not limited to depositions, hearings, mediations and trials. Additional key responsibilities:

  • Schedule hearings and depositions
  • Preparation of pleadings and discovery responses
  • File pleadings through the Florida e-filing portal system
  • Maintain and update client files
  • Manage subpoena records request
  • Perform general office administration duties and other general office assignments upon request.
  • Act as a liaison between our Attorneys and our Claims Partners.
  • Enter key metrics data into our case management system

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Legal experience required. 1 plus years of Insurance Defense experience a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of the Florida court filing systems (Florida e-filing portal)
  • Familiarity with County Court procedures a plus but not required
  • High School Diploma required
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects with shifting priorities
  • Excellent time management skills with a focus on attention to detail
  • Ability to work on strict and timely deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of legal terminology and litigation is a plus
  • Ability to work with confidential/sensitive information in a secure fashion
  • Demonstrated professional diplomacy in all written and verbal communication
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Experience with Passport case management system is a plus
