POSITION SUMMARY
CIMCO is currently looking for regular full time Piping Systems Designer to join our Engineering Services Team located in our Burlington Office. This role would appeal to a recent graduate Mechanical Technologist or Technician.
REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- A graduate of a 2-year or 3-year post-secondary engineering technology or applied science program.
- Have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Experience using CAD 2D and 3D design software such as; AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Navisworks, Solidworks.
Other Desired Skills & Qualifications
- Registration with the local Provincial Association of Technologists & Technicians.
- Experience in creating custom menus and plugins for Autodesk software.
- Creating dynamic and parametric blocks to update CAD standards.
- Creating templates and macros in Autodesk and Microsoft Office Environment.
- Familiarity with Google Sketchup or 3D environment scanning software.
- Knowledge of site construction techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of pipe system designs.
Responsibilities:
- Assist Project Engineers on various aspects of a project concentrating primarily on piping systems design.
- Work closely with Project Engineers and Construction Department to produce 3D models and detailed shop and field fabrication drawings.
- Review and analyze piping designs to ensure safe and efficient installation and operation.
- Generate 3D BIM models from engineering design documents to LOD 350 within Revit MEP.
- Generate, issue, and update engineering documentation such as; customer submittals, site instructions, construction drawings, system design schematics, construction manuals, commissioning manuals, and owner’s maintenance manuals.
- Coordinate with construction and customer using 3D coordination tools.
- Work with Virtual Design manager in creating and managing CAD process and standards using AutoCAD, Revit, & Navisworks.
- Revise and expand CIMCO library of Revit BIM families.
- Participate in developments/ improvement of other CIMCO engineering standards.
