Plan Review Consultant

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Plan Review Consultant I to join Consulting & Technical Solutions based in our Milan, Amsterdam, Frankfurt or Maidenhead office on a full-time basis.

The Plan Review Consultant is responsible for engineering activities related to plan review. This involves the application of loss prevention concepts and the in-depth review of technical drawings and specifications for new construction projects, with a focus on the analysis of associated automatic fire protection systems to ensure that designs are in accordance with FM’s Property Loss Prevention Standards. The individual must understand the scope of the project under review, beyond the plans submitted, if needed, to identify other review opportunities not initially presented by the client. Training is also provided in the areas of reviewing construction, roofing, solar installation, and other equipment plans.

  • Conduct review of fire protection and construction submittals based on the Engineering Operating Standards and Operating Requirements. Identify deficiencies and reasonably foreseeable physical and human element exposures for fire, equipment, and natural hazard perils.
  • Review previous correspondence (Risk & project reports, letters, emails, etc.) and as needed, communicate clearly and effectively with the designated service provider, assigned project engineers, clients, and contractors to develop a comprehensive understanding of the project.Provide technical support for client requests made to the office as indicated by the manager.

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience in reading/understanding technical, construction, equipment, and fire protection drawings and specifications from previous job in fire protection industry (minimum 2 years’ work experience)
  • Experience using CAD software and computer-based calculation tools; experience with building information modeling is a plus.
  • Knowledge of fire protection systems and/or construction and experience with VDS/FM Global Standards is required.
  • Project and design experience highly recommended.
  • Business fluent in English and Italian , other languages would be a Plus
