Position Summary:
Responsible for the accurate set-up and processing of reports, databases and programs in support of a major administrative service benchmarking and practice-sharing initiative. Provide training, administrative, and technical support.
The benchmarking program team will collaborate closely with about 50 senior managers from major units and departments, as well as over 300 managers and supervisors across the University in order to individually categorize the work of over 4,500 administrative and support employees, as well as the costs for out-sourced services, into the benchmarking program platform using standardized definitions, ensuring data quality and meeting tight timelines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide professional expertise in designing and implementing complex query procedures for a variety of supplier and staffing reports.
  • Collect, input and verify the accuracy of data to ensure integrity.
  • Review, analyze and provide recommendations on the planning and establishment of procedures to correct data, process, and reporting errors.
  • Responsible for ensuring data accuracy which is foundational to the reliability of reports and decision-making processes within the organization in relation to the tool.
  • Create advanced spreadsheets using equations, and hyperlinks to facilitate departmental validation and updates, ensuring correct data is transferred to the benchmarking program supplier upload tool.
  • Identify and resolve system errors, providing innovative solutions and recommending improvements to enhance system functionality, processes and policies.
  • Interpret and decipher documentation from the benchmarking program supplier help database, effectively communicating this information to individuals and the broader community.
  • Participate in program teams to review data and interfaces, ensuring compatibility with the benchmarking supplier submission tools.
  • Partner with multiple departments in the University to plan and coordinate the rollout of benchmarking program data collection and processes, including job data and supplier records.
  • Prepare and submit project tickets to the benchmarking program supplier defining problems and solutions for system errors and questions that cannot be corrected internally.
  • Prepare and submit schedules and upload reports, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Provide comprehensive support and training to individual Respondent managers and their internal departments for benchmarking program data collection.
  • Respond to senior administration requirements by creating custom data reports from existing databases, explaining options, and offering suggestions to focus on the most useful data.

Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities:
Requires a strong knowledge and understanding of University structure and day-to-day operations. Strong analytical background and project management skills. Experience with Alteryx, Tableau and/or PowerBI, a strong asset. Knowledge of data structure and databases. Ability to transform data into recommendations. Capacity to find creative solutions and make independent decisions. Ability to work in a PC environment using databases, spreadsheets, statistical and visualization tools to produce analyses and reports. Advanced Excel and PowerPoint. Proven experience working in an environment where confidentiality is foremost. Excellent communication and collaborative skills, showing tact and professional conduct with clients at all levels. Excellent organizational skills. Ability to work autonomously and as part of a larger team and to build strong relationships with internal and external partners. English (spoken and written).
