Description:

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Provision of own vehicle for Board business.
  • Travel to meetings within the City of Toronto.Must be available to work periodically for extended periods, including evenings and weekends, to support committee meetings, public consultations, and other time-sensitive tasks.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and coordinate workflow of staff.
  • Research, analyze, maintain and extract key pupil accommodation data to support long- and short-term capital planning, accommodation studies (e.g., Pupil Accommodation Reviews (PARs)), Board property assets.
  • Develop forecasting models to support departmental enrolment projections using a variety of statistical formats.
  • Identify, analyze and present key time-sensitive enrolment and demographic trends.
  • Ensure data quality and integrity of the data within the management software.
  • Assist with creating, maintaining and improving datasets in departmental relational databases and geographic information system.
  • Analyze and participate in the study of boundary changes, program placements and relocations.
  • Generate data and various reports for senior management.
  • Liaise with TLC to coordinate core holding strategies, surplus, leased and disposition of sites.
  • Provide support to the Senior Manager of Planning, Manager of Planning Analytics, and Ministry of Education in the following areas: capital funding, capital plan reporting, management of the Education Capital Information System (ECIS) and accountability data, including reporting on Pupil Accommodation Review Committees (PARCs).
  • Provide support to the Strategy and Planning Department and TLC by working with municipal planning staff to identify and assess potential impacts relating to planning and accommodation issues such as community and partnership access to schools, surplus declarations and residential developments.
  • Publicly report and maintain current inventory of space to support Community Planning and Partnerships.
  • Provide staff training and development on enrolment projection software (e.g., Baragar Systems).
  • Coordinate public meetings and consultations for various initiatives (e.g., PARCs, boundary reviews, property dispositions) and maintain departmental webpages.
  • Develop efficient and cost-effective departmental processes and systems.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • University degree in a related discipline such as Planning, Geography, Business Administration, Public Administration, or the social sciences with two years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in database administration, database design and process development.
  • Expertise in planning and information technology.
  • Experience in managing activities through teamwork, setting timelines, assigning tasks and ensuring quality.
  • Solid background in planning in a school board environment with exposure to both pupil accommodation planning and land-use planning.
  • Statistical knowledge relating to areas such as regression analysis and transition rates.
  • Knowledge of the Education Act, the Planning Act, Core Education Funding, and related provincial regulations.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written, oral and interpersonal skills, including effective presentation skills.
