About the role
Balfour Beatty has an exciting opportunity for a Planning Manager to join our Regional Building Business Unit
You will oversee the strategic planning and scheduling of multiple construction projects, ensuring alignment with organizational goals. Aim to optimize project timelines, resource allocation and coordination efforts. Foster efficiency across the construction portfolio, implementing best practices and guiding the planning team to achieve successful project outcomes.
What you’ll be doing

In the role of Planning Manager, you will:

  • Lead collaborative efforts in the development and agreement of logical sequences and methodologies during tender processes, ensuring the adoption of efficient design, procurement, and construction strategies.
  • Oversee the planning team’s development of key deliverables, guide planners in formulating Tender Programmes, and lead effective planning strategies to achieve project success.
  • Build on a foundation of expertise, providing guidance throughout the contract stage, leading the planning team in complex schemes. This includes meticulous alignment with planning procedures and active contribution to the project’s overall success under the leadership of the Planning/Project Lead.
  • Manage contracts with subcontractors and suppliers, monitoring performance, and resolving contract-related issues. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in data analysis, aiding the planning team in producing project data and key performance indicators for informed decision-

Who we’re looking for

To succeed as a Planning Manager, you will:

  • Possess an excellent understanding and management of data and processes
  • Be adept in negotiation and conflict resolution
  • Have an excellent understanding of project management tools and software like Excel, MS Project, Primavera P6 or ASTA.
  • Have extensive understanding of construction project management principles, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Be an Expert in project scheduling and planning, including the ability to develop and manage complex project schedules using industry-standard tools.
  • Be considered an Expert in Risk Management in project programmes: TRA, QSRA, etc.
  • Have an understanding of financial aspects related to project planning, including budgeting, cost estimation, Earned Value Management, and analysis to support effective decision-
  • Possess significant experience in successfully planning and managing a variety of construction projects, including large-scale and complex.
  • Have substantial experience in leading and managing planning resources for construction projects, highlighting a track record of successful project delivery.
  • Have previous experience in managing relationships with clients, subcontractors, and other stakeholders, demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
