Description:

The Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services (NRBHSS), incorporated under the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement (section 15) as well as the Act respecting health services and social services, covers the entire territory located north of the 55th parallel. Its mission is to adapt health and social services programs to the population’s needs and the region’s realities and to ensure efficient organization of the resources made available to the Nunavik region.
The regional board seeks to fill the following temporary assignment:

DESCRIPTION

Reporting to the Occupational and Environmental Health Coordinator of the Public Health department, the Planning, programing and research officer will need to work closely with the climate change officer in her community consultations to identify health impacts of climate change and community responses to improve climate resilience in Nunavik. The outcomes from those consultations will help complete the climate risk assessment to health and well-being currently in progress.

Your responsibilities also include to:

  • Help reach and mobilize partners and interested people in communities;
  • Take on an advisory role and serve as a liaison with local organizations and communities;
  • Co-host discussions in the communities regarding real-life impacts of climate change;
  • Help the regional partners identify the desired climate change adaptation measures and the financing methods or tools available to implement them;
  • Help with the identification of health and well-being problems, preoccupations and solutions tailored to the reality of Nunavik;
  • Help adapt communication tools for our communities following the results of the consultations.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Oral and written knowledge of Inuktitut and one of the two other languages spoken in Nunavik (english and/or french);
  • Experience in advisory roles or as a liaison between different groups will be considered;
  • Knowledge of Nunavik and Inuit culture;
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree in an appropriate academic discipline such as business administration, humanities or social sciences;
  • For candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Quebec Agreement, a combination of relevant experience and education may be considered;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse community members;
  • Proficiency in using various communication platforms and tools;
  • Ability to work with health professionals and community members to address specific needs.
    Candidates who are beneficiaries of the James Bay and Northern Québec Agreement shall receive priority.
