Within this exciting setting, the Town of Huntsville has a vibrant downtown and offers many cultural and outdoor recreational opportunities.
The Town of Huntsville is currently looking to hire a temporary Planning Technician to cover a 18 month maternity leave.
The Planning Technician will assist in the processing of a variety of application types, and review new applications for accuracy and completion and for conformity to applicable planning policy and other Town regulations and practices. You will coordinate circulation of development applications and manage responses from internal departments and external agencies, communicate issues and concerns to applicant and facilitate required discussions between the applicant and internal departments or external agencies. You will assist in the preparation of staff reports, planning/legal documents and planning comments for various stakeholders as appropriate and review pre-consultation requests with respect to applicable policy, regulations, guidelines and conduct research, background review and follow up with customers as necessary. You will also produce notice maps and circulation notices utilizing property and zoning computer maps.
The ideal candidate will have a post-secondary diploma or degree in Planning or directly related field. A working knowledge of the Planning Act, Official Plan and Zoning By-law, other planning related legislation and related experience is desired. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, practical experience and advanced knowledge of MS Office applications such as Excel and Word and GIS applications are required. A valid G license and access to transportation is also required.
The hourly rate range for this position is $32.81 to $36.17 based on a 35-hour work week.
