DESCRIPTION:

Quick overview of the role
We are currently seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to join our friendly team in a full-time capacity (12 month contract). This role is responsible for studying and implementing technical solutions with a focus on mechanical elements application. This position involves analyzing existing mechanical systems, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing innovative solutions to enhance efficiency, productivity, and cost-effectiveness in layout installations, manufacturing processes as well as R&D activities. This position is based in Currumbin Waters.
What will you be doing?
Conduct technical-related analysis to develop new manufacturing solutions and evaluate existing mechanical systems (machinery, equipment, automation systems and production lines).
Develop and update mechanical systems (Mechanical System Design) in installations, machinery, and components using an analytical mindset and CAD systems.
Create appropriate technical documentation related to product and process development, as well as site infrastructure and facilities, and ensure site layout information remains accurate.
Conduct root cause analysis for mechanical failures or production issues, identifying the underlying causes and implementing corrective actions.
Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop preventive maintenance schedules and procedures for mechanical systems.
Collect and analyses data related to mechanical performance, equipment utilisation, maintenance records, and production metrics.
Prepare reports and present findings to management, highlighting areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
Identify opportunities for changes, considering industrial factors like technologies, capacity, etc.
Provide technical support for site operations, development activities, and maintenance functions.
Lead project team meetings, reporting to management when required.
Actively participate and bring inputs to the company’s strategic plans.
Implementation of lean manufacturing program initiatives.
Ensure all equipment is fully functional, fit for purpose and performing to specifications.
Contribute to the design/ redesign of production machinery and equipment to increase.
Assist with drafting and engineering services across all branches.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:

What are we looking for in the successful candidate?
Possess a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role preferably within the steel reinforcing and injection moulding industry
Exhibit strong project management skills – Project Management Certification is preferred
Experience in coordinating workflow and resources, preferably in manufacturing operations
Management and leadership experience/skills including any performance and behavioral concerns
Demonstrate positive motivation and maturity in leading a team to achieve team goals
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Proficient computer literacy skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Knowledge of safety regulations, risk assessment, and ergonomic considerations within mechanical engineering
Ability to monitor, measure and analyse area performance
Ability to organise and schedule day-to-day operation
Proficient in CAD, mechanical design and drafting
