Description:

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Plant Technician to assist in the assembly, setup, and operation of a chemical pilot plant. The successful candidate will work closely with engineers and senior technicians to ensure smooth and efficient operation of the pilot plant. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge chemical processes and play an integral role in the development and scale-up of innovative technologies.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

· High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree or technical certification in a mechanical field, process technology, or a related field is preferred.
· Previous experience in an industrial plant environment is highly desirable.
· Experience using hand tools is required.
· Chemical knowledge is preferred.
· Forklift experience is preferred.
· Welding experience is considered an asset.
· Familiarity with process equipment such as piping, reactors, pumps, heat exchangers, and instrumentation.
· Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues effectively.
· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

· Ability to lift and carry equipment or materials up to 50 pounds.
· Comfortable wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, goggles, and safety shoes.

Responsibilities:

  • Pilot Plant Setup: Assist in the assembly, installation, and commissioning of equipment for the chemical pilot plant, ensuring all systems are functioning according to design specifications. Also assist in basic wiring and plumbing tasks.
  • Equipment Calibration & Maintenance: Perform routine calibration, inspection, and maintenance of equipment and instruments to ensure optimal operation and prevent downtime.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues related to plant equipment, instruments, and collaborate with engineering teams to resolve issues promptly.
  • Collaboration & Support: Support engineers and other team members in experiments, trials, and process testing within the pilot plant environment.
