Description:
Scope Group is looking for a Platform Infrastructure Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Azure cloud services and a strong background in networking and security to join our SRE team in Berlin or Frankfurt. This role involves managing our Azure and other cloud services, as well as shaping and guiding the adoption of new cloud services to meet diverse business requirements.
The ideal candidate is an excellent communicator, diligent planner, and driven problem solver who excels at delivering business services and support. The role requires a responsive, proactive, and highly productive professional who can collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure continued success.
Your tasks and responsibilities
- Maintain Scope’s existing Azure cloud and on-premises infrastructure in a Business as Usual (BAU) manner by provisioning/de-provisioning services, investigating alerts, troubleshooting issues, and conducting root cause analysis
- Regularly monitor backups and test restoration processes, as well as disaster recovery processes, twice a year
- Ensure high availability of the platform by promptly monitoring and responding to incidents
- Continuously improve the performance monitoring and fault management of Scope’s infrastructure and services
- Develop, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions/Argo CD)
- Ensure that security best practices are applied at all levels of our infrastructure and services
- Provide reporting and raise awareness of issues, risks, and concerns in various business areas to inform, mitigate risk, and drive improvement
- Drive the automation of processes, integration of systems, and adoption of new technologies
- Collaborate with cross-functional IT professionals to evaluate new cloud services and deliver solutions to various business needs
- Work closely with technical and business colleagues to build trusting, long-term partnerships and ensure a high level of stakeholder satisfaction
Your professional and personal profile
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent professional experience
- Industry certifications and memberships are a plus
- Background in IT infrastructure, with a minimum of 1 year of experience in designing and implementing storage systems, networks, load balancing, and firewall solutions, as well as managing Windows and Linux server environments
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in managing the following Microsoft Azure Cloud services:
- Networking (VNET, peering, NSG, ASG, Load Balancer, Traffic Manager, etc.)
- Storage accounts and Data Lake Gen2
- Azure Kubernetes Service and Fleet Manager
- Azure SQL and Azure DB for PostgreSQL
- Experience with configuration management tools
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in writing code in Python
- Good understanding of relational databases (MS SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL)
- Experience with performance monitoring and fault management
- Good understanding of networking and network protocols (TCP/UDP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP, etc.)
- Experience with monitoring tools like Grafana/Prometheus
- Fluent in English (written and spoken)
