Description:

£425 - £475 WEEKLY PAY (PAYEE - NO UMBRELLA COMPANY)

New Directions are seeking an experienced and compassionate Play Therapist to join our team and provide therapeutic support to children within our school or organisation. As a Play Therapist, you will work with children who may be facing emotional, behavioural, or social challenges, using play-based therapeutic techniques to help them express themselves, develop coping strategies, and work through difficulties in a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities of the role included but are not limited to:

  • Have excellent communication skills.
  • Be able to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Be encouraging and supportive.
  • Have a positive attitude towards teaching and aiding children development.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of the student.
  • Provide individual and group play therapy sessions to children, using a variety of therapeutic techniques, including art, storytelling, and role-play, to support emotional and psychological development.

Although the role is based around education support, due to the children’s personal needs and behaviours they require consistent mentoring, motivating and advising, as well as some counselling, so their well-being can remain stable meaning they can achieve much more in their education and work towards an more independent future.
Behaviours displayed by the children can be challenging so applicants must be prepared to practice De-escalation and calming techniques, as well maintaining an empathetic approach and understanding behaviours stems from other problems. candidates from care, sports, psychology, criminology, sociology and youth work backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
