POSITION OVERVIEW

The Illinois Department of Public Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to independently perform technical and administrative duties relative to the interpretation of the Illinois Plumbing License Law and Code. Develops revisions to the State Plumbing Code and program policies as required by current statute and that reflect consistency with industry standards. Provides expertise, technical and administrative assistance and explanation of State and Federal laws and regulations as they relate to plumbing program mandates and activities. Review surveys and investigations associated with implementation of the Plumbing Licensing Law and Code and other applicable state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of high school.
  • Requires two (2) years of experience as a Plumbing Inspector.
  • Requires the possession of a plumber’s license under the Illinois Plumbing License Law.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Certification as a Plumbing Inspector by the Department of Public Health.
  • Two (2) years experience performing technical and administrative duties relative to the interpretation of the Illinois Plumbing License Law and Code.
  • Two (2) years experience providing expertise, technical and administrative assistance and explanation of State and Federal laws and regulations as they relate to plumbing program mandates and activities.
  • Two (2) years experience reviewing surveys and investigations associated with implementation of the Plumbing Licensing Law and Code and other applicable state and federal regulations, policies and guidelines.
  • Two (2) years experience directing and assisting in the preparation of legal cases including evidence preparation for formal hearings and court proceeding.
  • Extensive knowledge of the Illinois State Plumbing Code.
  • Working knowledge of the tools, equipment, materials, methods and practices of the trade.
  • Working knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics and mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of the state laws as they relate to prevention and control of communication diseases caused by environmental factors.
  • One year work experience in Microsoft software products including, Word, Excel, Power point, etc.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
