An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and highly motivated individual to join the Economic Development and International Branch as Policy Adviser at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Policy Adviser will provide analysis and advice to the Premier and senior DPC executives on the Economic Growth, Jobs and Industry and Medical Research portfolios in a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. The work includes reviewing and assessing cabinet submissions, policy proposals, business cases and the preparation of high-quality written advice and briefings on these issues.
The position requires flexibility to respond quickly to rapid change, strong policy and planning capability, and collaboration and engagement across the Victorian public service to deliver a varied work agenda.

ABOUT YOU

As our ideal candidate you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in preparing analysis and advice on policy and projects in a public sector and/or industry environment.
  • Excellent written communicaiton skills, including the ability to prepare briefs, letters, emails and reports.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations.
  • Demonstrated influence and negotiation skills to gain agreement to proposals and ideas and explores alternatives to gain agreement without foregoing key objectives.
  • Strong planning and organising skills, including ability to identify processes, tasks and resources required to achieve a goal; uses systems and procedures to plan work and monitor progress.
  • Commitment to continuous development including through seeking feedback and opportunity to develop new skills.
