QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • A related two-year diploma (e.g., Policy, Access to Information, Privacy, Communications, Business, Information Management), and at least two (2) years of related experience. Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Cover letter detailing how your skills and experience align with the role’s responsibilities, used to assess writing and communication skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of access to information and privacy principles, legislation, and practices.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply legislative requirements in diverse environments.

Assets:

  • In-depth knowledge of access to information and privacy Acts and Regulations, including the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, Personal Information Protection Act, Government Accountability Act, and the Records Management Regulation.
  • Strong writing, editing, and designing skills for crafting policy and communication materials.
  • Familiarity with government operations and experience liaising with stakeholders at all levels.

Equivalencies are:
A related four-year degree and no related experience; a related one-year certificate and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience; or a minimum of four (4) years of related experience in lieu of formal education.

Join a dynamic team at the heart of government, where your skills in analysis, communication, and collaboration will help guide transformative initiatives that uphold transparency, accountability, and innovation across the province.
As a Policy Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting the development, enhancement, and maintenance of the GoA’s access to information and privacy policy instruments. Working alongside experts in the field, you’ll contribute to government-wide initiatives by crafting and refining policies, conducting research, and engaging stakeholders to address evolving legislative and technological challenges.

Your key responsibilities include:

  • Researching trends and best practices to guide the development of policy instruments.
  • Scanning government and non-government jurisdictions to identify innovative approaches.
  • Contributing to team projects by providing research, feedback, and validation of best practices.
  • Editing and refining team-produced content for clarity, accuracy, and professionalism.
  • Developing presentations and innovative methods for communicating complex ideas.
  • Supporting the creation of responses to internal and external stakeholder inquiries.
  • Liaising with subject matter experts to ensure communication accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Building and maintaining networks to support policy development through consultation initiatives.
